Definition of Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA):

A savings plan designed specifically to cover education expenses. Each contributor may give up to $2,000 per year per eligible beneficiary. The contributions are not deductible, but, they are also not taxed when they are withdrawn, assuming they are not more than the amount of education expenses.
