Definition of Collection Due Process:

A hearing where a taxpayer is reviewed by a lien or levy officer independent of the IRS. The objective of such a hearing is to test the validity of a lien or levy issued against a taxpayer by the IRS. The hearing makes sure the IRS was both procedurally correct and warranted in filing the lien or levy.
